The Salt Marsh Trail is part of the abandoned Musquodoboit railroad that has been transformed into part of the Trans Canada Trail. The trail provides an easy urban/rural adventure for hikers and cyclists alike. A woodland easing out onto the narrow causeway and bridges that cross the salt marsh that is Cole Harbour, before folding back into a woodland walk again. The trail is also popular with Nordic skiers in the winter. Paddlers are more frequent during the warmer months, but be wary of the fast currents, particularly around the bridges.
