Laureen Harper leads walk on Trail

Participants enjoyed spectacular views of famous Ottawa landmarks

The finale of the AGM was a walk on the Trail with Laureen Harper, wife of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Starting at Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau, QC, participants walked 2.5 kilometres on the Trail to the Bytown Museum. This is a wonderful trail section, featuring spectacular views of the Parliament Buildings, the Supreme Court of Canada and the National War Museum; as well as the rich history of the Rideau Canal and Ottawa River;

Trans Canada Trail was delighted to have Mrs. Harper join the walk. “Mrs.Harper is an avid supporter of the Trail as an initiative that links Canadians from coast to coast to coast, promotes a fit and active life style, and stimulates local economic growth and tourism in large and small communities.Her participation highlights the broad support of Canadians for the Trail and the commitment of governments at all levels for this inspiring national initiative,” said Valerie Pringle.
