$500,000 in funding for Cape Breton Trail

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency has stepped up to the plate big-time for trail development on Cape Breton. Construction has begun on a 92-kilometre section of trail between Port Hastings and Inverness. This project is being headed by the Cape Breton Island Pathways Association. New trail project for Vancouver Island

A $1.2 million project to connect the Galloping Goose Trail with Shawnigan Lake was recently announced. When completed, this portion of the Trans Canada Trail will allow people to hike, bike, roll, or otherwise travel under their own steam between downtown Victoria and Langford, up to Shawnigan Lake and beyond. Nanaimo River bridge in the planning stages

January 13th, 2007

If the project, to be financed by the Regional District of Nanaimo, comes to fruition, the bridge will be the final link in making the Trail continuous in the area. A site for the bridge has not yet been determined.
