Trail Funders

The Trans Canada Trail is a registered charitable organization (Registered Charitable B.N. 137496741RR0001). The support of government funders, sponsors and donors is essential to the Trail’s ability to support the efforts of hundreds of volunteer-led trail groups across the country and to promote the many benefits of the Trail. We are proud to have the support of the following major partners as well as the participation of over 100,000 Canadians who have helped build the Trail by sponsoring a metre, becoming a member, making a donation or remembering the Trans Canada Trail in their will.

Canadian Heritage is responsible for national policies and programs that promote Canadian content, foster cultural participation, active citizenship and participation in Canada's civic life, and strengthen connections among Canadians. The Trans Canada Trail’s development has been supported by a $15 million contribution from Canadian Heritage for capital development of trail as well as signage and project coordination.

NATIONAL MEDIA PARTNER
We are proud to have Canada’s National Newspaper as a significant partner in the building of Canada’s National Trail. As the Trail’s National Media Partner, the Globe and Mail is encouraging pride in this iconic national project and sparking the interest and participation of Canadians in their national Trail.

STRATEGIC BRANDING PARTNER
Watt International is a consulting and design firm with over forty years experience in over forty countries around the world. Their contribution of creativity and expertise as TCT’s Strategic Branding Partner is revitalizing the brand of the Trail and helping us communicate the essence of the Trail – something truly unique that inspires unlimited journeys of discovery and celebration that capture the many facets of Canada’s diversity.

Bell Canada has taken the Trans Canada Trail to a new level of success, supporting the development of GIS mapping and other documentation of the Trail’s route as it stretches from coast to coast to coast. This foundational work has contributed to the planning of over 400 volunteer trail partner groups that we work with across the country as they dream about, plan for, and ultimately build and sustain segments of the Trail. Bell’s gift has enriched the experience of millions of Canadians and visitors from around the world who visit our website and refer to TCT maps and publications regularly in order to create their own journeys along the Trail.

The Stephen R. Bronfman Foundation generously funded the development of 2,000 interpretive Discovery Panels along the Trail. Each panel features a topic specific to the flora, fauna or geography of particular Trail segments, adding to the richness of the experience of millions of Trail users each year.

Raleigh Canada has contributed over $200,000 to the Trans Canada Trail since 2000, making them a significant national partner in the development of the Trail across the country. Raleigh’s high quality, Canadian-made bikes are perfectly suited for exploring Canada’s beautiful outdoor spaces in urban, rural and wilderness settings. We are proud to have Raleigh’s support as the official bicycle of the Trans Canada Trail.

Northwater Foundation has been a significant contributor to the Trail’s development across the country for many years. Our 2009 national meetings in Ottawa were generously supported by Northwater, which made it possible for our trail partners and members to come together to contribute to exciting plans for the Trans Canada Trail’s continued development. Northwater also generously supported our Olympic Torch Relay activities.

RBC’s philanthropic support of the Trail is acting as a catalyst for bringing economic, health, environmental and cultural benefits to communities from coast to coast to coast as new Trail segments are developed.
In addition to supporting the Trail’s continued development, the Foundation also made TCT’s Olympic Torch Relay legacy activities possible at 25 Pavilions located across the country.

Support from the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) helps the TCT to promote and facilitate the work of 400 volunteer trail partner groups who are making the Trans Canada Trail a reality in their communities. TD FEF is a national organization with a grassroots focus that funds local projects dedicated to preserving and protecting the environment.

Loblaw Companies Limited is supporting the development of Trans Canada Trail’s green initiatives. Loblaw’s contribution is being invested in collaborative projects with strategic alliance partners to increase awareness of the environmental benefits of the Trail and encourage its use as an alternative transportation choice.

The Trans Canada Trail thanks KEEN Canada for its ongoing support. In 2009, Keen Canada’s innovative program Boots Across Canada contributed funds for our partner groups to enhance their trail construction projects as well as trail stewardship and volunteer programs. KEEN Inc., manufacturer of hybrid footwear, socks and bags, is an outdoor brand that delivers innovative hybrid products, enabling all outdoor enthusiasts to live an active lifestyle. The company strives to demonstrate integrity and leadership, especially on social and environmental commitments, while promoting an inclusive outdoors community. Through its giving program Hybrid.Care, the company provides support to a variety of social and environmental organizations around the globe.
