About the role

The Community Event Coordinator will play a key role in driving registration and national awareness for the Great Canadian Hike. This position offers the opportunity to support a series of on-trail events and activations (including travel to select trail-side locations) to engage directly with trail users and encourage them to sign up and take part. As part of our Events team, the coordinator will help plan and deliver engaging, high-impact experiences: securing event locations, supporting logistics and travel, transporting and setting up materials, and creating welcoming, memorable interactions that motivate participation. Working closely with staff, the coordinator will contribute to creative, community-focused activations that highlight the value of the Trail and inspire Canadians to get outdoors.

The Community Event Coordinator will also support the planning and execution of additional Trans Canada Trail events and initiatives. This includes but isn’t limited to assisting with venue selection, asset planning, content development, and event logistics, as well as helping capture on-trail photos and video for social media and campaign needs.

Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, be comfortable travelling independently, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, and have strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The role requires fluency in both English and French. Candidates must be available for travel to select locations from July to August.
