Trails near Toronto:

Martin Goodman Trail – Waterfront Trail 

Stretching along Lake Ontario, this wide, paved trail is ideal for strollers, scooters, bikes and snack breaks with a view. Playgrounds and parks make it easy to turn this into a full-day family outing. 

Nearby: Stop at the Toronto Islands, visit the playgrounds at Little Norway Park, or cool off at Sugar Beach.


Pan Am Path – Lower Don Valley Recreational Trail 

Explore shaded forest paths just minutes from the city. The Don Valley Trails offer a quiet escape with gentle terrain — perfect for young walkers and curious explorers. 

Nearby: Make it a nature-filled day with a visit to Evergreen Brick Works or Riverdale Farm — both perfect for curious kids.

Capital Pathway 

This scenic trail follows the Ottawa River, with plenty of picnic sites, lookout points and access to parks along the way. Smooth surfaces make it stroller-friendly and perfect for bikes or scooters. 

Nearby: Head to the Canadian Museum of History or the Canadian Children’s Museum just across the river for more family fun.


Parc de la Gatineau 

While technically in Quebec, this immense park offers unparalleled access to nature within a short distance of downtown Ottawa. Choose a gentle path and let it guide you to incredible lookout spots, stunning lakes and fascinating indoor exhibitions on the natural history of the area.    

Nearby: If it’s sunny, stop off at Parent Beach, which is equipped with a playground, picnic tables and a boat rental service.

City of Greater Sudbury – Bell Park Walkway 

This accessible trail winds along the shores of Ramsey Lake, offering beautiful views, flat terrain and plenty of space for little legs to stretch. Stop for a picnic or explore the waterfront with the kids.
