About the role
Position: Coordinator, Philanthropy
Position Type: Full-time, 6-month contract
Reports to: Director, Development (Major Gifts & Campaign)
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote from home, resident in Canada
The Coordinator, Philanthropy plays a key supporting role within the Philanthropy team at Trans Canada Trail, ensuring continued momentum in the quiet phase of a comprehensive campaign during a period of staffing transition. Working under the direction of the Director, Development (Major Gifts & Campaign), the coordinator provides vital administrative, prospect research, CRM data inputting and project coordination support to maintain donor engagement and campaign activities. This short-term position is ideal for an emerging fundraising professional or early-career non-profit staff member seeking hands-on experience in fundraising and campaign operations.
This position is open only to residents of Canada, who are eligible to work in Canada.
Key responsibilities
1. Prospect Research & Donor Support
- Conduct and compile prospect research and meeting briefs for donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Maintain accurate and timely donor records and updates in Salesforce.
- Prepare supporting materials such as proposals, meeting briefs, and donor correspondence.
2. Campaign Coordination
- Support the coordination and follow-up for Campaign Cabinet activities, meetings, and communications.
- Assist with planning and logistics for special campaign-related events.
- Track progress and help prepare updates for leadership and volunteer committees.
3. Operational & Administrative Support
- Provide administrative and project coordination support to ensure smooth execution of campaign priorities.
- Assist with Salesforce information tracking and data inputting
- Liaise with vendors, and internal teams as needed.
- Contribute to process improvement, document organization, and information sharing across the Philanthropy team.
- Other tasks, as required.
Desired experience and qualifications
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in fundraising, or administrative roles (nonprofit experience preferred).
- Familiarity with donor databases (Salesforce or equivalent) and fundraising processes is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data and documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new systems.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive and resourceful approach.
- Demonstrated interest in philanthropy, community engagement, or the nonprofit sector.
- Self-starter
- Ability to work in remote environment.
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (English and French), an asset.
Compensation package
We offer a compensation package that includes:
- Hiring salary of $30,000 for the contract term (6 months)
- Flexible work location (within Canada) and hours of work
