Heidi Tillmanns

Clear, informative, inclusive signage is essential to a positive trail experience, and Heidi brings more than 30 years of experience in the signage industry to her role as Director, Infrastructure & Trail.

Heidi oversees the management and funding of more than 100 infrastructure and 100 signage projects each year, including donor recognition pavilions. She ensures that the Trans Canada Trail brand is aligned with current international signage practices, and in 2021, integrated tree planting into Trans Canada Trail’s infrastructure projects as part of the federal government’s “2 Billion Trees” commitment.

A Registered Graphic Designer, Heidi is passionate about the role she plays for future generations, through her work with Trans Canada Trail and through helping to ensure that young women have supportive mentors. In 2021, she was recognized with a Women in Signs Award from Signs of the Times, for her expertise and lifelong contributions. She holds a diploma in Commercial Art, Graphic Design and Illustration from Sheridan College.

Heidi lives near the Hamilton to Brantford Rail Trail section of the Trans Canada Trail, an entirely off-road, interurban hiking and biking trail. She has visited nearly all sections of the Trail, and being a “water person,” she lists Point Zero West at Clover Point in Victoria, and the Spirit Trail section in North Vancouver as especially breathtaking.
