Janice Valant

Janice brings an extensive career in the environmental sector to her role as Coordinator, Visitor Experience for Trans Canada Trail. She supports local Trail operators and partners in classifying Trail assets, defining Trail experiences and administering the Trail Destination Development funding stream.

Janice’s passion for environmental work started with a degree in environmental studies and biology from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario. An east coaster at heart, she moved to Newfoundland & Labrador, where she completed an advanced diploma in Integrated Coastal and Ocean Management from the Marine Institute at Memorial University.

Janice has travelled on the Trans Canada Trail in eight provinces and plans to visit the Trail in every province and territory. She lives on Vancouver Island near the Salish Sea Marine Trail, a wilderness paddling section of the Trans Canada Trail. There is a special place in her heart for the City of Saint John Trail in New Brunswick where she and her grandmother spent many hours adventuring and exploring. Janice is a volunteer quilter with Quilts for Survivors, which gives handmade quilts to survivors of the Residential School System as symbols of support, respect and love.
