National Youth Employment Program
Hands-on Training for Future Leaders
The National Youth Employment Program (YEP) is intended to support jobs that contribute to the development and improvement of trails and the trail sector. The program, which started in 2021, is designed to provide education through employment for youth between the ages of 15 and 30. To strengthen the trail sector and the longevity of the trail workforce, we encourage all employers to support youth who face barriers to employment in trails, for example Indigenous youth, new Canadians and youth who live in rural areas.

Quotes from Singletrack to Success – Carcross, Yukon
“The National Youth Employment Program was a big help for Singletrack to Success (S2S) to provide summer employment for Carcross youth. This year we had more applicants than we had money for, and this program bridged the gap and allowed the crew to work longer in the season – at their request!
Perhaps most importantly, this program links these young people to the national trail community which makes them feel like they are part of something that extends beyond the small town of Carcross to the rest of Canada. This excitement translates to the work they do, which is appreciated by our community of trail users. In short, we are thrilled with the current direction of Trans Canada Trail and look forward to working with you in the future!”
– Derek Crowe, General Manager for Carcross/Tagish Limited Partnership
“My favourite part of working for Singletrack to Success is making fun trails for visitors and for me!”
– Lakota S., Singletrack to Success employee
