Grade 5 students help Toronto Pearson celebrate Earth Day

TORONTO, April 17 /CNW/ – On Friday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m., Grade Five students from Dunrankin Drive Public School in Malton will be putting on their gloves and helping Toronto Pearson perform a 20-Minute Makeover. The group will be cleaning up a portion of land that will be used for a new walking and cycling trail running through the airport property. Mississauga Councillor Eve Adams will be leading the children on their clean up project which is the result of a new partnership between the GTAA and the City of Mississauga.

As part of the 20-kilometre Etobicoke Creek Trail, which runs from Lake Ontario to Steeles Avenue in Brampton, the GTAA has designated 3.7 kilometres of trail on airport property to be opened to the public in 2009 as a multipurpose recreational trail. The Etobicoke Creek Trail connects to the Waterfront Trail which is part of the Trans Canada Trail.

Earth Day is Tuesday, April 22nd. Is there a trail-related event happening in your community? Let us know and we’ll put in on the blog!
