In Memory of John (Jack) Rhind
We were deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of John (Jack) Rhind. Jack (seen above at far right) was one of the original members of Trans Canada Trail’s Board of Directors, helping to guide the organization in its early years. He will be remembered as a true champion of the Trail, never missing an event for Trans Canada Trail in Toronto, where he lived. Jack was a Trans Canada Trail Patron and one of our earliest supporters.
Valerie Pringle, who served on both the Trans Canada Trail and Trans Canada Trail Foundation Boards for over 20 years, says, “Jack Rhind was an early supporter and integral in the building and connection of the Trans Canada Trail. He was enthusiastic and indefatigable. When I reflect on working with him, it bears to mind ‘the vampire’s kiss’ as he was the person who first got me involved with Trans Canada Trail, where I spent 20 amazing years! I am grateful to him for that, he inspired me, and he was a true champion who inspired so many people. We all owe him our gratitude for what he helped to build — a legacy that we can all enjoy today and for years to come!”
Our sincere condolences go out to his friends, family and all those who knew him. We are truly appreciative for Jack’s invaluable support of Trans Canada Trail over the years.
