Get Outdoors for Golden Hour on July 18

Get ready, get set, get outdoors!

Everyone Outdoors Together is a national movement that’s all about creating a shared moment where people in Canada pause, step outside during golden hour, and witness the beauty of a sunset or midnight sun together.

Trans Canada Trail is proud to be a partner of this initiative, led and hosted by the Canada Parks and Recreation Association. We share their belief that there are significant mental, physical and community health benefits when people connect with nature and one another.

Creating a new tradition, together

People from coast to coast to coast will step outside at the same time on July 18 to participate in the Great Canadian Sunset Moment, sharing a sunset or midnight sun experience. Add this event to your calendar and join in the fun!

When is it happening

This new, annual event takes place on National Parks Day, the third Saturday in July, which falls on July 18 in 2026.

You’re invited

Everyone is welcome to participate and there is no cost to take part. The point is to be outdoors together, either in person or connected by the time of day: golden hour!

Individuals:

At sunset, go outside with friends and family members, find a pocket of open sky and enjoy the sunset together – maybe on a section of the Trans Canada Trail near you! (explore our interactive map: https://tctrail.ca/explore-the-map)

Join an event happening near you by checking the national event listing.

Capture a sunset selfie or your golden hour connection moment. Post it on Instagram or TikTok using the hashtag #EveryoneOutdoorsTogether and tag @everyoneoutdoorstogether to share with everyone.

Organizations:

Consider organizing a community event! Let your imagination run free: the event could be a walk on the Trans Canada Trail, a beach meet-up, a guided tour in a local park, a bike trail outing, or a community clean-up. Time the event to end at sunset so you can all enjoy nature’s spectacular show together.

Become an official volunteer Activation Partner, championing health and wellness in your local region. Register here to receive more information, a partner activation toolkit, and to get your event listed on the national event listing.

Sharing this moment together

Trans Canada Trail is all about facilitating great outdoor experiences so even more people can discover and explore Canada’s diverse landscapes and communities. No matter where you’re located, we look forward to sharing this Everyone Outdoors Together sunset or midnight sun moment together with you.
