Cycling the Laurentians on a historic railway
The longer P’tit Train du Nord Trail runs from just north of Montreal, in Bois-des-Filion, through several charming communities in the Laurentian region, including Saint-Jerome, Sainte-Adèle, Val-David, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Mont-Tremblant and many more. It concludes in Mont-Laurier.
Originally built as a railway for the region, the trail includes minimal elevation changes, several visitor centers in converted railway stations, and the chance to explore the area on bike, foot or in-line skates, or on cross-country skis in the winter. The trail includes several paved sections that are accessible and stroller-friendly.

Designed for all activity levels and for cyclists, walkers and hikers, and family-friendly jaunts, the Val-David station of the P’tit Train du Nord makes an ideal jumping off point. The former-railway-station-turned-visitor-center can be found right in the village, with cafés, art galleries and local markets just steps from the Trail.
Head north along the Trail from Val-David towards Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, enjoying a forested route that crosses streams and beautiful, lush landscapes. At kilometer 45, stop to check out the Jardins de Clefs des Champs, an organic garden with medicinal plants. Guided and self-guided visits are available in the summer months.
