Trans Canada Trail's Trail Funding Program

The Trail Funding Program is intended to support Trail operators across Canada in the development and enhancement of the Trans Canada Trail by offering a range of funding streams designed to support specific Trail priorities. To review the details of the individual funding streams, please refer to the individual guidelines for each of the funding streams listed below.

Trail Funding Program – Funding Streams

Trans Canada Trail will fund projects through the following funding streams. Please refer to the appropriate funding stream guidelines for further clarification. 

Trails Support Program for First Nation, Métis and Inuit Communities

The Trails Support Program for First Nation, Métis and Inuit Communities is intended to assist Indigenous communities across the country in enhancing their trails. All Indigenous communities are eligible.

Trail Care Grant Program

Each year, thousands of volunteers undertake projects to ensure that all users can safely access the benefits of outdoor recreation on the Trans Canada Trail. Our Trail Care grant program provides funding for projects to improve Trail sections, supporting the transition from one season to another.

National Youth Employment Program

Trans Canada Trail is pleased to offer a 50% wage subsidy to eligible Trail groups who are looking to hire a young employee (aged 15 to 30) for the upcoming Trail season!
