From a celebration of Earth Month to employee appreciation initiatives, Toyota Canada’s approach to team-building and environmental action includes getting outside and onto the Trans Canada Trail. Last year, Toyota Canada employees across the country participated in nine engagement opportunities!

“Our partnership with Toyota Canada brings to life a shared commitment to sustainability and connection. When Toyota’s employees join us on the Trail and experience it firsthand, it makes our partnership that much stronger and more concrete,” says Matt Ainsley, Trans Canada Trail’s Director of Corporate Partnerships

Hundreds of employees engaged from coast to coast to coast

In 2025, 392 Toyota Canada employees engaged with Trans Canada Trail — both at in-person activities and virtual learning spaces — to demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment for the world’s longest recreational trail.

Toyota Canada employees participated in the following activities:

trail clean-ups in 5 provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia

1 tree-planting event in Peterborough, Ontario

2 virtual Lunch & Learn events, in which Trans Canada Trail staff provided insightful learning about trail sustainability, climate resilience and the Toyota Canada Fund for Trail Sustainability

“I was fortunate to meet Toyota Canada’s employees in Quebec on the Lachine Canal in Montreal,” says Matt. “It was truly inspiring to see partners like Toyota Canada actively contributing to important — and impactful — work improves the trail user experience.”

Demonstrating their commitment to the Trail

In addition to Toyota Canada trail clean-up events, Toyota employees were invited to join in — and pitch in — at events organized by Trans Canada Trail’s local trail partners. And Toyota Canada employees have shown up and showed a genuine interest in supporting the Trail. This summer, Toyota Canada employees attended a tree-planting event organized by GreenUP Peterborough, supported by Trans Canada Trail’s Planting for Tomorrow program.

“Our employees across Canada have really enjoyed providing hands-on support for the sustainability of the Trans Canada Trail,” said Cyril Dimitris, President and CEO, Toyota Canada. “Through the Toyota Canada Fund for Trail Sustainability, we’re proud to continue to support an organization that helps connect Canadians from coast to coast to coast.”
