About Trail Care 

Each year, thousands of volunteers undertake projects to prepare trail sections for the changing seasons and ensure that all users can safely access the benefits of outdoor recreation on the Trans Canada Trail.  

In 2025, 222 Trail Care events were held across the country by engaged community groups, who planted trees, cleaned up the Trail, celebrated exceptional trail group volunteers, engaged youth in their communities, raised awareness about the benefits of spending time outdoors, and much more. 

This year

Trans Canada Trail awarded $252,400 in Trail Care grants to community groups across Canada – from coast to coast to coast, in all 10 provinces and 2 territories – to help local groups prepare the Trans Canada Trail for the changing season and enhance trails in their communities.
