Edward Balon’s love for the outdoors began many years ago in Saskatchewan and continued throughout his life in British Columbia. As a prospector and consultant in mineral exploration, he cherished the natural world. Edward explored sections of the Trans Canada Trail around Vancouver, and he was a steadfast supporter of its mission to connect people through a network of paths and waterways.

For over two decades, Edward generously supported the Trans Canada Trail through regular donations. His name can be found in pavilions across Canada, reflecting his dedication to preserving the country’s natural beauty. His estate gift ensures that the Trail will continue to inspire future generations, fostering a deep connection with nature and encouraging outdoor exploration.

Edward leaves a legacy not only in his support of the Trail, but also in his inspiration to cherish and preserve our natural environment. We are committed to upholding Edward’s vision, ensuring that the Trans Canada Trail remains a source of joy, connection and exploration for years to come.

We are immensely grateful for Edward’s support and are dedicated to continuing the work he deeply believed in. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the Trans Canada Trail.

In honouring Edward’s memory, we celebrate his vision of a unified Canada, connected by its landscapes. His contribution tells a story of the power of passion and purpose. We invite others to join in this vision — exploring the Trail, supporting its growth and cherishing our shared environment. Together, we can honour Edward’s legacy and inspire others to find their own paths in the great outdoors across Canada.
