Position Type: Full-time; 1-year contract
Location: Remote from home, resident in Canada
Team: Communications & Marketing
Reports to: Director, Web & Digital Marketing
Start Date: As soon as possible

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Trans Canada Trail! The Email Marketing & Automation Specialist is an important role within our Communications & Marketing team to drive email marketing strategy and engage our community of supporters, donors, and trail users. You’ll be reporting to the Director, Web & Digital Marketing and working closely with the entire Trans Canada Trail team to support the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.

 This position is open only to residents of Canada, who are eligible to work in Canada. 


Key responsibilities
  • Execute data-driven email marketing campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC).
  • Build, optimize, and manage personalized customer journeys in Journey Builder.
  • Develop and manage dynamic content blocks and templates in Content Builder to ensure campaign consistency and efficiency.
  • Lead segmentation and management of audience data through Data Extensions.
  • Use Automation Studio to schedule email sends, data refreshes, and support audience engagement objectives.
  • Conduct A/B and multivariate testing on various email elements, applying statistical analysis to optimize results.
  • Analyze campaign performance (open rates, click-through rates, conversions), derive insights, and refine strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with CASL, CAN-SPAM, and privacy laws by managing preference centers and unsubscribe logs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with content, design, and IT teams to align email strategies with broader digital objectives.
  • Work with the Web & Digital Marketing team to provide detailed reports on email performance and present findings to stakeholders to inform strategic decisions.

Desired experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in email and digital marketing, with a focus on data-driven strategies and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Solid understanding of data hygiene, audience segmentation, and statistical methods for A/B testing and sampling.
  • Experience creating automated customer journeys and real-time triggered campaigns.
  • Proven analytical skills with the ability to interpret and leverage data to enhance marketing strategy.
  • Knowledge of CASL, CAN-SPAM, and other data privacy laws.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Bonus: Salesforce Marketing Cloud certifications (e.g., Email Specialist, Consultant) and knowledge of AMPscript, JavaScript, SQL, JSON, CSS, and HTML.

Compensation package

We offer a compensation package that includes:

  • Hiring salary of 58,000 per year
  • Flexible work location (within Canada) and hours of work
  • Generous paid vacation, holidays and sick leave
