National Trail Youth Employment Program

Trans Canada Trail is pleased to offer a 50% wage subsidy to eligible Trail groups who are looking to hire a young employee (aged 15 to 30) for the upcoming Trail season!

Get started by:
  • Registering your organization as an employer HERE – please note that you will be redirected to a website hosted by Project Learning Tree Canada.
  • Once your organization has been registered and approved as a participating employer in the program, you can start the application process.

Employer eligibility is determined by the group’s capacity to provide matching funding for wages and the connection of the job to the trail sector.

The subsidy, funded by Parks Canada as part of the Youth Employment in the Conservation and Enjoyment of Nature and Culture program, is intended to support jobs that contribute to the development and improvement of the Trans Canada Trail. The employment term should last between 2 and 20 weeks, and the 50% subsidy will be granted to a maximum of $3,500.

We encourage all employers to support youth who face barriers to employment, for example Indigenous youth, new Canadians, and youth who live in rural areas. For more information or guidance on hiring youth facing employment barriers, please contact us.

For more information, please refer to this guidance document.
