Trans Canada Trail Welcomes Linton Carter as New Chief Development Officer
Ottawa – Trans Canada Trail is pleased to announce that Linton Carter will be joining the organization as Chief Development Officer.
Carter brings more than 25 years of experience in developing donor relationships, generating revenue, motivating staff and volunteers, and creating impact within the charitable sector. A mission-driven leader, she has held various leadership roles at some of Canada’s top charities including UNICEF Canada, Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada, YMCA of Greater Toronto and SickKids Foundation.
Most recently, Carter was UNICEF Canada’s Chief Strategic Engagement Officer from February 2017 to March 2024. In this role, she led UNICEF Canada’s efforts to engage Canadians in UNICEF’s work supporting the delivery of the global strategy to 2025, Mobilizing Canada for Every Child. She also served as a member of UNICEF’s global Fundraising Strategy Group working on growing private-sector engagement around the world.
As a nature lover, Carter is passionate about uniting Canadians to foster a sustainable and healthier future on the trails.
“I am very excited to join the Trans Canada Trail team to increase support for the longest network of multi-use recreation trails in the world,” says Carter. “I believe Canada’s nationwide trail is a national treasure that connects communities and is important to protect for future generations.”
As Chief Development Officer, Carter will lead philanthropic efforts as Trans Canada Trail implements its 2024-29 Strategic Plan. She will play a critical role in expanding the organization’s philanthropy portfolio and driving financial support for its mission as Trans Canada Trail looks to continue organizational momentum that includes earning Imagine Canada Accreditation.
“We are thrilled to welcome Linton to the team,” says Mathieu Roy, Chief Executive Officer of Trans Canada Trail. “Throughout her impressive career, she has shown that she is a passionate leader who makes a significant impact on every organization she joins. I am looking forward to working with Linton as we move forward in this ambitious new era for Trans Canada Trail.”
