How Monthly Giving to Trans Canada Trail Makes a Lasting Impact

If you’re thinking of donating to Trans Canada Trail — or perhaps you’re already a donor (and we’re very grateful!) — there are several ways to make your contribution. One way is by becoming a monthly donor, or TrailKeeper.

First things first: what exactly do we mean by monthly giving? Monthly giving is a recurring donation model where supporters commit to contributing a set amount to a charity each month. Choose the amount you’d like to give, and on a set date each month, that amount will be deducted from your account or added to your credit card.

Here’s why monthly giving is a great choice for both donors and the charities they choose to support.

You’re providing consistent support

When you give monthly, regardless of the amount, you’re helping the charity of your choice make longer-term plans. You’re demonstrating a longer-term commitment to the organization, allowing them to visualize over months or years without uncertainty. That means more control for organizations over years-long strategic goals and plans, which in turn means you’re making a big impact, one step at a time. If you’re donating to Trans Canada Trail, your monthly donation helps us to ensure the Trail remains a secure and welcoming haven for nature enthusiasts across Canada.

You’re giving a predictable, affordable amount

You know how much you’re giving and when, making it easier to plan and set funds aside. This means no more last-minute tax panic, where you may feel you need to donate a larger chunk in one shot. Donating as little as $10 per month is easier to fit into a budget than a larger one-time donation and adds up to big tax benefits over time.

You’re playing a part in something big

Donating monthly is a great way to stay plugged in, both emotionally and practically, to an organization you care about. It keeps you connected to the work the organization is doing, and you get to see the impact of your generosity in real-time as projects are completed. It’s a great way to build a relationship in the longer term (but don’t worry; you can cancel at any time if you wish!).

You can set it and forget it

Most of us live busy lives — work, family, community engagement… the list goes on. Donating monthly is an ideal way to remove an item from the to-do list, but still get it done. Once you’ve set up your monthly gift, you can rest easy knowing that you’re helping protect the Trail every month – no extra steps, no extra paperwork.
