Naturally Superior Adventures: Great Supporters, Superior Tours on the Great Lakes
We’re pleased to shine a spotlight on a generous supporter: our friends at Naturally Superior Adventures, a Wawa, Ontario-based outdoor adventure company that offers multi-day excursions along the Lake Superior Water Trail – part of the Trans Canada Trail.
Naturally Superior will donate 18 per cent of the proceeds from their Voyageur Canoe Waterfall Tour to support the important work of Trans Canada Trail.
David Wells, founder of Naturally Superior Adventures, explains why supporting Trans Canada Trail made so much sense: “Naturally Superior Adventures and Trans Canada Trail are both dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for outdoor adventurers and working to preserve the incredible natural environment in Northern Ontario and beyond. Participants can experience the best of the Great Lakes on an exhilarating paddling trip while also supporting a great cause – it’s a win-win!”

The remote shores of Lake Superior guard some of the most rough and scenic landscapes in Canada. With 30 years’ experience guiding paddling expeditions on these challenging waters, Wawa-based outfitter Naturally Superior Adventures provide safe and inclusive paddling experiences, offering participants a meaningful connection to Lake Superior’s rich natural and cultural history.
Route highlight: Denison Falls
Located two and a half hours from Sault Ste. Marie and just over five hours from Thunder Bay, Wawa is the gateway to one of the non-to-be-missed sections of the Lake Superior Water Trail.
The coastline west of Michipicoten Bay is a mix of fine sand beaches and granite headlands. Some say that the sands rival the beaches of the Caribbean, with shores of water-polished pebbles in every colour of the rainbow, making for some of the most incredible campsites you can imagine. Witness the incomparable beauty of a Lake Superior sunset, then gaze upon the Milky Way pouring across the area’s dark night skies.
An unforgettable highlight of the Lake Superior Water Trail is Denison Falls, where the Dog River tumbles 40 metres over glacially polished bedrock, sending warm mists swirling into the mossy forest. Denison Falls lie within Nimoosh Provincial Park — one of Lake Superior’s many protected areas accessible only by water trail — a 55-kilometre round trip journey from Naturally Superior Adventures’ paddling centre at the mouth of the Michipicoten River.

David says, “When I’m out on the Lake Superior Water Trail, I’m frequently humbled by its immense scope and natural beauty – there’s nothing like paddling on one of the Great Lakes to give you a true appreciation for – and respect of – our natural world. I’m so pleased to be able to share that experience with visitors to the area, and to support Trans Canada Trail while doing so.”
