Trail Profile: Katepwa Point Provincial Park

Discover the Katepwa Point Provincial Park’s new accessible day use area, situated in the Qu’Appelle Valley in one of the oldest provincial parks in Saskatchewan!

Newly created accessible day use area at Katepwa Lake, with equipment to borrow at no cost 

This lovely provincial park has recently completed an accessible upgrade to several of its facilities. While trail users could already enjoy a paved accessible path on land, they can now also find 50 feet (15 metres) of Mobi Mat, bringing users directly onto the beach. Other new accessible features include picnic tables and a rotating barbecue stand. Plus, accessible equipment is available to borrow: park users can request a beach walker, floating beach wheelchair and a sand wheelchair, and a there is a storage shed on site for equipment. 

Amenities for all ages in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley 

This nearly hundred-year-old park features a beautiful lawn area with picnic facilities, plus a playground for the little ones and a disc golf course, so you can be sure to keep the little ones satisfied. Within the park, you can also find boat launches, a service centre and parking, plus an accessible paddle boat dock and a short, 300-metre walking path, appropriate for all ages. 

More parks, beaches and beautiful trails 

If you’d like to extend your trail experience, the Katepwa Point Provincial Park connects to the District of Katepwa Trail on one end, and the Village of Lebret Water Trail on the other. In addition, from the four-season District of Katepwa Trail, continue on to the Hamlet of Sandy Beach Trail to Sandy Beach Regional Park, home to a golf course, public beach, sports courts and campsite area. 

At the south end of Katepwa Lake, the Regional Municipality of Abernathy Trail continues through a beautiful area, offering views of grassy pastures and treed slopes on the opposite side of the valley.
