Cathy’s Trans Canada Trail: Road Less Travelled Leads to Trail Joy and More in Cape Breton

This four-part series follows travel writer and Trail adventurer Cathy Donaldson as she explores different sections of the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

Part one: the kick-off.

Sometimes the best adventures happen when you choose a different path. On a trip last summer to her hometown of Sydney, N.S., on Cape Breton Island, Cathy took the scenic route — trading highways for the stunning trails of Cape Breton Island’s western shore.

Her journey led her along the Celtic Shores Coastal Trail, where she discovered breathtaking landscapes, rich history and a lot of friendly faces.

Join her as she explores the Ceilidh Trail.
