The Joys of Winter in Charlevoix: Saint-Siméon and Baie-Sainte-Catherine Sector

We’re wrapping up our winter journey in Charlevoix with a look at the Saint-Siméon and Baie-Sainte-Catherine sector, on the eastern edge of the region.
Renowned as a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts, Charlevoix is located along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, northeast of Quebec City. Classified by UNESCO in 1988 as a Biosphere Region, this unique region captivates visitors with its diversity, the beauty of its landscapes and its incredible atmosphere.
We spoke to Tourisme Charlevoix about the Trans Canada Trail sections in the region and what activities, attractions and must-sees are on offer.
This is the fourth article in a four-part series about this incredible region.

The Sentier de l’Orignac is divided into three sections — East, Centre and West — and comprises seven trails in all. It is characterized by its wild, natural environment. The trail takes you through a variety of ecosystems, from maple groves to tundra. The Sentier de l’Orignac now features a brand-new refuge built by the Traversée de Charlevoix organization, which has extended its routes in the area.
This is the last stretch of the Trans Canada Trail in Charlevoix before the Traverse Rivière du Loup – Saint-Siméon section, where you can continue via ferry crossing over to Rivière-du-Loup.
